Two people taken to hospital after Scotch Corner crash

Two people were taken to hospital following an accident on the roundabout at Scotch Corner yesterday evening.

The incident happened on the roundabout at about 6.20pm.

It involved a Toyota Avensis and a Citroen C1.

Police, ambulances and fire crews from Richmond, Colburn and Bedale attended the scene.

The female driver of the Citroen had to be cut free by firefighters.

The woman and a female passenger, who managed to get out on her own, were taken to hospital with back and neck injuries.

A male and a female from the Toyota managed to get out on their own and received treatment at the scene for shock and neck pain.

Crews used hydraulic cutting gear, spreaders, reciprocating saw and small tools.
