Unicorn took a giant leap towards the Scotts for Storage Wensleydale League title this week with a 3-1 win over rivals Richmond Mavericks.
Two goals from Liam Reeves and another from Daniel Gardner were enough at the Dave Clark Arena on Thursday to ensure the team is now control of their own destiny.
A 2-1 home loss on Saturday against Catterick Garrison had meant the pressure was on Unicorn.
But the win against Mavs means the Newbiggin pub team needs just four points from their remaining three fixtures to retain the title they won on goal difference last season.
Elsewhere at the weekend, Richmond Town Reserves played their final home game of the season against bottom club Reeth with many of the side feeling the effects of enjoying Good Friday celebrations.
Town started quickly and raced into a 5-0 half time lead with goals from Danny Weatherall, Brandon Bishop, Danny Allen and a brace from Eddie Lewington.
They added a further eight in the second half with Lewington getting two more, Weatherall completing his hattrick and Joe Ramsay also netting a brace.
Cam Spence also got on the scoresheet late on but the highlight was Karl Latchum coming out of goal for the final five minutes and finishing smartly when one-on-one with the Reeth keeper.
Final score 13-0.
