Police say a driver who crashed their BMW into a lamppost yesterday did not have insurance.
The driver was uninjured in the incident in Colburn.
However, North Yorkshire Police Road policing group said in a post on social media that their insurance ran out last month.
A police spokesperson said: “Combination of rear wheel drive, wet road and heavy right foot led an awkward coming together between this BMW and a lamppost earlier in Colburn.
” Fortunately for the driver, they weren’t injured.
“Unfortunately for the driver, they weren’t insured. The policy had expired last month.
“Some expensive lessons learnt today but they were just happy to be out unscathed.”
They added: “Oh, and our recovery driver did eventually move it after a sterling effort pretending to hold the pole up.”
