Consultation event planned on Leyburn affordable housing scheme

A consultation on plans to convert a former care home into 24 apartments will take place today.

Brierley Homes is working with housing association Beroadacres on the scheme planned for the Brentwood Lodge site.

A range of apartment sizes is proposed for single occupancy, couples and small families.

The 24 apartments would be available to rent.

A consultation event will be held from 4.30pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 14 at Thornborough Hall, Leyburn.

Brierely say they have partnered with Broadacres to ensure the homes are “accessible for all with a variety of financing options available”.

Stuart Ede, Brierley operations manager, said: “Our aim is to create a fantastic place to live in a central and accessible location, close to shops and services.

“This is a great example of what can be achieved when working closely with a registered provider towards creating a really positive outcome for this site and its surrounding area.

“I would encourage people to come along to our consultation event to hear more about the plans.”

The former care home is partially disused with a dentist’s surgery operating from some of the building.

Occupant Riverdale Healthcare has submitted plans to move to purpose-built premises near the council’s long-stay car park.
