An RAF cadet squadron based at Richmond School has issued an urgent appeal for adult volunteers.
RAF Cadets: 2040 (Richmond) Squadron now has now 50 young people on the books, with enquiries for new starters coming in regularly.
However, squadron leaders say more adults, including parents and carers, are needed to ensure parade nights run smoothly.
There are several positions needed, including cadet instructor and civilian committee member.
Full training is given, and a DBS check is paid for.
Flying Officer Keith Hildred, has overseen a big rise in interest in the group since taking on the role.
He said: “Our squadron is going from strength to strength due to the dedication of our cadets and the adult volunteers.
“However, we need more volunteers to help spread the workload and keep the adult-to-child ratio at the correct level.
“Our young people thrive here. They learn life skills, engage in interesting activities, play sport and enter competitions. Many of our cadets have completed their DofE award with us, too.
“None of this could happen without our adults, and we desperately need more help to keep it running so well”, he added.
Parade nights are held at Richmond School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but volunteers do not need to attend every parade.
