Firefighters were called out to recover life-saving equipment which had been thrown into the river yesterday.

A crew attended at the River Swale at Richmond on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Richmond Fire Station said: “We were called by a member of the public that they had found this essential life ring thrown in the river.

“With the nicer weather and more people in or near the water, these need to be there for emergencies.

“If you find these vandalised or missing please call Richmondshire District Council.”
