Vehicle seized after police checks in Catterick

Police seized eight vehicles during a crackdown in the Catterick area on Friday.

Officers used automatic number plate recognition cameras and worked with staff from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to check vehicles in the area.

Sgt Paul Cording, from the force’s road policing unit, said the aim was to target illegally run and unroadworthy vehicles.

In total 14 drivers were issued with traffic offence reports for offences including no mot, insurance offences or defective tyres.

Eight vehicles were siezed for having either no valid tax or insurance.

The Ford Transit flatbed truck pictured was listed as being SORN.

The driver was also reported to court for an overload in excess of 30 per cent.

The Ford Fiesta was seized as it was being driven with no tax.
