Members of Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT) came to the aid of two missing walkers yesterday.

The incident happened near Marrick.

The team was called by the police after the walkers had become benighted (overcome by darkness).

SMRT used the Sarloc Rescue system to find the walkers by tracking the location of their mobile phones.

A spokesperson for the team said: “We found them quickly found them safe and well and returned them to civilisation.

“Thanks to Neil the farmer for his assistance too.”
