Volunteers wanted for Richmond clean up ahead of judging

Volunteers are wanted to help tidy up Richmond town centre ahead of a visit by judges from the Great British High Street awards.

Richmond has been shortlisted in the 2018 Great British High Street Awards.

The town was entered into the champion high street category by the Original Richmond, Richmond Business and Tourism Association (RBTA).

There were 240 applicants and Richmond is one of only 26 to have been shortlisted.

Richmond Pride and the RBTA are having a big clear up in the town centre ahead of the judges’ arrival on October 17.

The first clean up will take place on Wednesday, October 10 from 5.30pm to 7pm.

There will then be more sessions on Thursday, October 11 from 5.30pm to 7pm and on Sunday, October 15 from 10am to noon.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Town Hall.

The team will be litter picking, sweeping and weeding and volunteers are asked to go prepared.

  1. How about the council spend some of the millions they make each year to pay for a company and not buy a new car.
