Walker rescued by Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team

Rescue volunteers were deployed to a walker in the Yorkshire Dales today.

Volunteers from Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team were called out by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The casualty was rescued by 12 team members near Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre.

The walker, with a medical emergency, was extracted from the lower falls using a new wheeled stretcher.

The specialist stretcher, called a Titan and a vacuum mattress were used to assist with the extraction of the patient to an ambulance in the National Parks car park.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team receives no official funding and is run by volunteers and donations.
