A walker suffered serious injuries after slipping on a stile today.

The emergency services were called to the incident at Stalling Busk near Semerwater.

The female walker had slipped on a stile sustaining serious injuries to both lower legs

Members of Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT) were called to assist Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

As the team arrived, the aircrew had just managed to load the casualty with the help of fellow walkers.

It was the third call-out for SMRT this week.

SMRT rescue controller Steve Clough said: “With the good weather we are seeing a lot of visitors enjoying the area.

“The high footfall probably accounts for the slight jump in callouts.”
