Wavell pupils make a splash for community garden charity

Pupils at Wavell Primary School got colourful for a good cause after taking part in a sponsored colour run to raise money for e50K Bramble Woods Community Gardens.

The event at the Catterick Garrison school brought together children, staff and families for an afternoon of fun while supporting the community interest company, which was chosen by pupils as the school’s fundraising cause.

The Bramble Woods Community Gardens site is regularly used by both the school and the wider community and hosts a range of free events and activities for local families.

Amy Manuel, e50K manager, thanked pupils and families for their support.

She said: “Thank you so much for your very kind and generous donation. You all make me feel so enthused and motivated and I can’t wait for you to see the impact your sponsorship has created. It really does mean a lot to us!”

Headteacher Gillian Crouch said the event reflected the school’s core values.

She said: “We are incredibly proud of our recent sponsored colour run, which brought together children and adults alike for an afternoon of fun in support of Bramble Woods Community Garden.

“This event was a wonderful reflection of our Wavell Values in action; by raising these vital funds, our school community has demonstrated deep compassion and kindness toward our local environment, while highlighting the importance of respect and responsibility for the spaces we share.

“We are thrilled to contribute to a project that fosters such a strong sense of local pride and togetherness.”
