The Trinity Sunday Service given by the Rectors of Middleham on Sunday June 4 at 11am, accompanied by the Bedale Brass Band, will be attended by the Lord- Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Johanna Ropner, who will plant Coverdale’s coronation oaks, and refreshments will be served.
The church dates back to the 12th century.
Its history has been documented on the site by historian Val Slater, who noted that in the 15th Century attending a service at Coverham could be a dangerous experience.
She said: “Almost continually brawls and quarrels broke out amongst the parishioners as they jostled their way forward to see the mystery of the Divine Sacrament.”
