Wensleydale to feature on national TV

Wensleydale will feature on TV tonight when the first episode of a three part documentary series presented by adventurer and explorer Paul Rose will

In episode one of The Yorkshire Dales, Paul starts his journey in Garsdale.

He then visit Hawes, Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle and finally Leyburn.

Paul will check out the hills that test the world’s best cyclists.

He is joined by British racing cyclist Annie Simpson who challenges him to cycle up one of the highest points in the Dales, the renowned Buttertubs Pass.

He also meets a team of visually impaired tandem cyclists from Huddersfield and brings his own tandem to join them for a ride.

At Bolton Castle, Paul meets owner Tom Orde-Powlett, and in Aysgarth he has a close-up encounter with a family of Dales dormice.

Episodes two and three of The Yorkshire Dales will see Paul visit Swaledale and Wharfedale.

Paul said: “There are not many places to rival the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales.

“I loved pulling on my boots again and exploring its world class sights and meeting the hard working people who make their living in this amazing landscape.”

The Yorkshire Dales will be shown on BBC One in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire at 7.30pm on Monday April 1.

There will be two further episodes shown on April 8 and April 15.
