Wensleydale Fryer fish and chip trains return

A train on the Wensleydale

Wensleydale Railway’s fish and chips trains, known as the Wensleydale Fryer, are to return in 2023, the heritage line has announced.

The Saturday lunchtime service begins on 13 April, with further trains every month from May to October.

The heritage diesel-hauled train will travel from Leeming Bar to Leyburn.

Users will be seated in an open coach at their own table, set for 1 to 4 people.

The railway’s volunteer staff will serve the food and drink, with a bar service also be available.

On arrival at Leyburn, passengers will have time for a short comfort break and to stretch their legs before boarding the train for the return journey to Leeming Bar.

The train will depart Leeming Bar at 1.30pm and the journey lasts around two hours. In addition to fish and chips (cod), there will also be the option of sausage and chips and gluten free fish and chips.

The cost is £30 per adult and £15 for children and includes the rail ticket.

Places are very limited and booking is essential. For more information and to book:
