Wensleydale guest house wins prestigious award

Neil McNair receives the award.

A Wensleydale guest house has scooped the top prize in its category at a prestigious annual awards ceremony.

Low Mill Guest House, in Bainbridge, was crowned Best B&B at the annual Food and Travel Magazine Reader Awards last week.

Readers nominate their favourites venues, with those getting the most nominations being shortlisted.

Readers then vote for the winners. More than 50,000 votes were cast.

The guest house is run by Neil and Jane McNair, who spent a year renovating the former cornmill after it had been empty for three years.

Neil said: “We were thrilled to receive so many votes and to be named winners of this award and given the high quality of the other shortlisted businesses it felt like a great achievement for us.

“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us.”

The awards ceremony was held at the Royal Automobile Club in London.

The couple enjoyed a meal cooked by celebrated chefs Tom Brown, Simon Rogan and Tommy Banks

“It was a little bit special,” added Neil.
