Wensleydale man denies harassing neighbour

York Magistrates' Court.

A 65-year-old Wensleydale man is to go on trial accused of harassing his businessman neighbour following a long-running dispute.

Arnold Alderson, 65, is accused of allowing his dog to defecate on their shared driveway and contaminating their shared gate by wiping mucus on it, which the prosecution alleges amounted to the harassment of his neighbour Neil Platts.

Mr Alderson appeared at York Magistrates’ Court yesterday when he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between September 6, 2023, and April 1 this year.

Magistrates adjourned the case for a trial on August 27.

Mr Alderson, of Wensley Station, Preston-under-Scar, was released on bail until then.
