Wensleydale men prepare for Lake District charity challenge

Five Wensleydale men will paddle, cycle and run their way back from the Lake District on Saturday.

Josh Westwood, Peter Westwood, Paul Westwood, Joe Westwood and Chris Greig will tackle three sporting disciplines one after the other.

The team will start by kayaking the 11-mile length of Lake Windermere from Fell Foot to Ambleside.

The will then cycle from Ambleside to Stone House Hotel, Hawes – a distance of 40 miles.

The will then run 12-miles off-road from Hawes to Redmire.

The aim will be to complete the challenge within 12 hours.

The team is raising money for three charities – Bloowise, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Dales Care.

The men will be welcomed to Redmire with a barbecue and live music from Two Blue at the Bolton Arms.

There will also be a charity auction with lots including a five course meal at Stone House, a butchered spring lamb and a signed Yorkshire cricket bat.

The team have been sponsored by Biker Group, Campbells of Leyburn, O’Reilly Wealth Management, HGM Group,  G Clarke Barbers and Ducati Leeds.

They have already raised almost £1,000.
