Volunteers at the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum.

A series of online talks organised by the Wensleydale Railway Association Trust (WRAT) continues this week.

A talk by Steve Davies MBE on the Sierra Leone National Railway Museum will take place on Wednesday, March 24 at 7pm.

A former Colonel in the British Army, Steve is a lifelong railway enthusiast, and is involved in a significant number of of heritage railway projects both on a professional and voluntary basis including as chairman of the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.

The Sierra Leone National Railway Museum was established by Steve Davies MBE, deputy commander of the International Military Advisory Training Team (IMATT) in Sierra Leone, working in his spare time with a team of young unemployed Sierra Leoneans.

Together they transformed a shed of locomotives, abandoned since the abolition of the state railway in 1974, into the country’s first railway museum.
