Wensleydale Rotary Club launches charity online auction

The Rotary Club of Wensleydale has launched an online charity auction to help replace fundraising events cancelled due to Covid-19.

The clubs’ past charitable work has included bursaries to schools to help disadvantaged children, supporting children in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, donating to local charities and supporting carers.

Members wanted to continue the good work this year but their major fundraising events — the James Herriot Country Trail and Wensleydale Wander — were cancelled.

Instead, they have launched an online auction with dozens of lots to go under the hammer, including hampers, crafts, books, homewares, services and gifts.

Chair Susan Rodgers said: “All the funds we raise from this auction will go to continuing this good work until we can run our major fundraisers again.

“We don’t have any costs to deduct so every penny we make will support a local cause.

“Please help us to help those less fortunate by bidding generously for items for auction including framed art, professional services, bespoke crafts, and high quality household items.”

The auction will run from August 1 to September 1.
