Wensleydale Rotary Club members visit moated house

The vaulted scullery at Markenfield Hall.

Members of Wensleydale Rotary Club recently made a visit to Markenfield Hall near Ripon recently.

The medieval moated house is still a family home and has been largely untouched since it was built in the 13th century.

Members were guided through the house and its history by Geoff Layen, who was able to bring to life the ups and downs of the various owners of the house over the centuries.

After the tour, club members enjoyed afternoon tea.

More information about the hall can be found on their website www.markenfieldhall.com
