Wensleydale Round Table appeals for support to keep Leyburn’s fireworks tradition alive

Wensleydale Round Table is appealing for community support to ensure Leyburn bonfire and fireworks display can continue.

Rising costs are putting increasing pressure on organisers, with a 20 per cent increase expected this year alone.

Chairman David Morton said: “We understand how much this event means to everyone in our community. It’s not just about the fireworks — it’s about unity, joy, and celebrating together.

“We’re reaching out with hope and gratitude, asking for your support to help us raise £1,000. Your contributions will ensure we can keep this wonderful community event alive for years to come.

“Please consider donating today and be a part of preserving this magical experience for everyone in Leyburn.

“Together, we can light up the sky and our hearts once more.”

This year’s event in Leyburn is due to be held on Wednesday, November 5, with the fire lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks starting at 7pm at the Shawl in Leyburn.

Donations can be made here.

Businesses can also sponsor the event for £100.
