Wensleydale School invites families to open evening

Wensleydale School in Leyburn will hold its annual open evening for prospective students and their families on Wednesday, September 24, from 6pm to 8pm. Doors open at 5.45pm.

The event will begin with a welcome from headteacher Julia Polley, followed by a presentation from Key Stage 3 progress leader Mr Hadfield, who will explain the transition process from primary to secondary school and the support available for new pupils.

Families will then be able to tour the school, visit classrooms and meet staff and students.

Children will also be able to take part in taster sessions across a range of subjects.

Representatives from the North Yorkshire Council admissions team will be on hand to answer questions about the admissions process.

The school has been oversubscribed for the past two Year 7 intakes and families are being encouraged to apply early.

Mrs Polley said: “I always look forward to our open evenings.

“They’re such enjoyable events for everyone involved and a wonderful chance to meet families who are considering joining our school community.”

To help families travelling from further afield, the school provides a paid bus service serving Catterick, Catterick Village, Bedale and RAF Leeming.

For those unable to attend, individual tours can be arranged during the school day by contacting Mr Hadfield at joshua.hadfield@wensleydaleschool.net.
