Students at The Wensleydale School in Leyburn experienced a packed week of enrichment activities before they finished for the summer.
The highlights included residential trips to London and France, the Combined Cadet Force summer camp, and a range of local projects focused on the environment.
Year 8 students set off on a residential visit to Normandy, enjoying a journey through French history and language.
From the picturesque harbour town of Honfleur to the historic city of Rouen and the D-Day beaches at Arromanches, the trip offered a chance to bring geography and culture to life.
Back in the UK, students on the London trip explored the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the Tate Modern, and Shakespeare’s Globe. Two unforgettable evenings at Mamma Mia! and The Lion King were topped off with a dance workshop at Pineapple Studios and time to unwind in Covent Garden and Harrods.
CCF cadets spent the week at Otterburn Training Camp, where they trained alongside students from Sheffield in overnight bivouacs, woodland drills, target sports, and adventurous outdoor activities.
Closer to home, a range of sustainability-themed activities took place across the Dales.
Students hiked the fell at Wildgarsdale Pike to study peat bogs, surveyed bumblebees and wildlife in Reeth, created bug hotels and nest boxes, and explored conservation at Nosterfield. A visit to Metcalfe Farms provided a look at large-scale, tech-driven sustainable farming, while gardening projects at Kirkwood Hall helped support the local community.
Art, science, crafts, and sports sessions were also on offer at the school throughout the week, giving students a choice of creative and physical challenges.
Headteacher Julia Polley said: “Our aim was to give students experiences that broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
“Their engagement, attitude, and spirit across the week made us incredibly proud.”
