A Wensleydale woman has finished second in the 2019 Enduro European Championships.

Nieve Holmes, 20, from Bellerby, finishes the season in the runner-up position after the latest round which took place in Finland at the weekend.

Nieve completed the weekend, finishing third overall, despite racing with a broken shoulder.

She said: “It’s been pretty cool to have been on the podium at every round this year and nice to see the improvements from last year, and have some good close racing with some good people.

“There are so many people to thank who have been a huge part of my riding this year. Thank you all so much for your help.

“I couldn’t have got this far without you all, especially dad Julian for driving all the miles and the support.”

She started riding in 2012 when her dad got her a trials bike but later changed to tiding motocross.

In 2018 Nieve started to race enduro and rode in the European Championship finishing third.
