Firefighters from Leyburn were called to West Witton at 10.44pm on Sunday following reports of a fire in the open.
On arrival, crews found the incident to be a controlled burn being managed by a farmer who was in attendance.
No firefighting action was required, with firefighters providing advice before leaving the scene.
