Police used a mobile phone app to find a motorist who had crashed in Wensleydale yesterday.
The man had overturned while driving a Dacia Duster near Leyburn on Friday evening.
The motorist was not sure where he was so used the app to give police his exact location.
The app divides the world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares and assignees each one a unique three word address.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police’s road policing group said after the incident: “Using the What Three Words App our control room were able direct resources quickly to him.
” The road will soon be open once we have swept up, leaving the driver to worry about his no claims bonus going down the pan.”
