Up to 4 additional black bags can be placed out next to your bin on your first household waste collection after Christmas Day.
Excess glass, plastic and cans can be placed out for collection on scheduled recycling days.
Excess cardboard should be flat packed and placed inside the blue or white bag.
Alternatively, excess can be taken to the recycling centres located across the district, which will be open throughout the holidays.
Christmas cards (although the council cannot take Christmas cards with any glitter on) and envelopes should be placed in the blue or white bag, and placed out on the day of collection day in order to keep it dry.
Wrapping paper and tissue paper cannot be recycled and so it should be placed in the grey bin.
The council says it can only accept brown paper in its recycling containers.
