Leading Scotch whisky expert Charles MacLean will give a talk and lead a tasting at Tennants in Leyburn later this month.
The talk on September 14 coincides with the auction house’s Whisky and Fine Wine Sale on September 17 when three rare casks of single malt whisky will be auctioned, currently owned by a Yorkshire businessman.
Bought by the vendor a little over 25 years ago, the casks have been sitting in bond at Deanston Distillery, Perthshire.
Experts say casks of single malt whisky rarely come onto the open market.
A spokesperson for Tennnats said: “Charles MacLean is Scotland’s leading whisky expert, with a deep passion for his subject.
“He has written numerous acclaimed books on Scotch whisky and acts as a consultant to the whisky industry.”
In his talk, Charlie will talk about the history of Scotch whisky, with special reference to the renaissance of single malts in recent years.
The talk will be followed by a guided tasting of four single malt whiskies from across Scotland, led by Ben Bowers from The Spirit Specialist.
Tickets are £20 per person and can be booked here or by calling The Garden Rooms at Tennants on 01969 621146, or email info@tennantsgardenrooms.com
