Golfers battled through tough weather conditions as Richmond Golf Club hosted its Senior Open Competition earlier this month.
The event, held on Thursday, April 16, attracted players from across the region and beyond, with competitors facing windy and wet conditions throughout the day.
Despite the challenging weather, a number of impressive scores were recorded.
Top spot went to Andrew Langford and Julie Philpott, representing Romanby, while second place was secured by Jeffrey Allen Serlby and Gillian Allen from Rotherham.
Anthony Farrer and Sylvia Glendinning, of Saltburn, finished third, with Richmond pair Gordon and Suzanne Carver taking fourth place.
The Best Gross prize was awarded to Martin Catt and Karen Jobling, also from Richmond.
In the individual contests, Steve Willis, of Richmond, claimed nearest the pin on the ninth hole, while Andy Robinson, from Rudding Park, took the honours on the 18th.
Gents’ Captain Ivan Rookes praised both the turnout and the efforts of those involved in organising the competition.
He said: “What a great day we had with a great turnout for our Senior Open. Thanks to all who took part and to the Green Staff, volunteers, bar and catering staff who helped with the event.”
The club regularly hosts competitions throughout the year, attracting golfers of all abilities from across the region.
