Winners of Richmond Easter window display competition announced

Karen Tunstall, Margi Irving, Hayley Rutherford - Winners of Best Community Involvement.

The winners of this year’s Richmond Best Dressed Easter Window Display Competition have been announced.

The retail category was won by King Street Kitchen and Gifts, the non retail category was won by Hunton and Garget Solicitors and Irvings Property won the best community involvement award.

Marcia McLuckie, chair of the Richmond and Lower Swaledale Business Association, which organised the window competition said judging was difficult as all the entrants had put a lot of effort into decorating their windows for Easter.

This story continues after the adverts:

She added: “They are all very attractive and interesting to look at. We spent some time looking at each window and spotting different aspects that are associated with Easter. It was by no means an easy choice, but it was great fun.”

Shoppers and visitors to the town centre are invited to follow the clues in the Easter Window Trail, which is available in the participating businesses.

King Street Kitchen and Gifts, Alyson Swift – Winner of the Retail Category.

Trails are available in participating businesses (look for the Easter Window Competition poster) and completed trails should be handed in to one of these businesses by the closing date of Saturday 22 April.

All entries will go into a prize draw and the lucky winner will win a Welcome to Richmond Town Ticket for a family of two adults and up to three children, worth £35.

Fiona Rudland, Katy Thackray, Lisa Potts – Winners of the Non-Retail Category.

Marcia said the Town Ticket was a great way to see all the town’s attractions.

She added: “It is valid for one admission to each attraction, but lasts for the whole season and gives entry to the Georgian Theatre Experience, Green Howards Museum, Richmondshire Museum and Richmond Castle, plus 10 per cent off your total bill when eating at The Black Lion Hotel, Cross View Tea Rooms, Jefferson, Rustique and Sip.”

The Richmond and Lower Swaledale Business Association and Welcome to Richmond, work on behalf of businesses in Richmond and the surrounding area.
