Woman seriously injured in Dales crash

The accident occurred on Brunton Bank, between Redmire and Carperby.

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a collision in Wensleydale earlier this week.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident at Brunton Bank, between Redmire and Carperby which occurred at just after 2pm on Tuesday.

The white Mercedes A160 AMG car was heading towards Redmire on the unclassified road when the driver lost control when going over a hill.

It collided with a drystone wall and a tree.

The passenger, a 25-year-old woman from Manchester, suffered multiple injuries.

She remains in a serious but stable condition at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Sale, Greater Manchester, suffered facial injuries and received treatment at Darlington Memorial Hospital.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “There was only minimal disruption to traffic due to the rural location of the incident.

“The road re-opened at 9.19pm.”

Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
