Woman taken to hospital after A66 crash

A woman was taken to hospital following a crash on the A66 yesterday afternoon.

The two-vehicle collision occurred near Gilling West.

Police, paramedic and fire crews from Richmond, Colburn and Darlington attended.

North Yorkshire Fire and rescue Service said a woman with a pre-existing back injury was in one of the vehicle when crews arrived.

Firefighters stood by until ambulance staff had carried out an assessment.

The woman was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up.

Fire crews used stabilisation equipment, small tools, an ice pack to make the scene safe and offered casualty care.
