Women’s basketball raises funds with coffee morning

A coffee morning organised by the Richmond Vikings Ladies basketball team raised around £250 for team funds.

The event was held on Saturday at Richmond Town Hall.

Emma Irving, from the team, said: “We had a great morning, meeting Ian the mayor and had some fantastic support from the Richmond community and local businesses who provided some fabulous raffle prizes.

“We are a fairly new team, established around four years ago following the success of the Vikings mens and junior teams.

“We are made up of ladies from throughout the region, Darlington, Stockton, Richmond & Northallerton and currently train at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington on Friday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm.”

The teams plays matches in the Women’s Durham league.

They are always keen to hear from anyone wanting to try basketball as they look to expand the team.
