Works party planned to help clear stone from fields in Swaledale

A flood relief works party will be held in Swaledale this weekend to remove stone from fields which was washed down by flooding.

The event from 10am on Saturday at Cogden Hall, near Grinton, is being organised by Richmond Motor Club.

The stone was washed down the Swale by the floods in July last year and earlier this year.

The organisers said: “This is a venue where we hold a number of our trials and training school and we would love to see as many people there as possible to help one of our landowners try to get some fields back to normal.

“We are going to hold our Good Friday Trial here this year, so a push to get the land up and running would be a great help.”
Volunteers should bring gloves and boots.
