Young footballers get new kit thanks to local solicitors

Young footballers at a Richmondshire primary school will start next season in a new kit thanks to a local law firm.

Girls and boys at Leyburn Primary School have been handed fresh strips after Scotts Wright Solicitors came forward as a sponsor.

The gesture has gone down well with the children, with one saying: “Putting on the new kit makes me feel like a professional footballer – it’s so cool.”

Another said: “I love how we all look the same now. It’s like we’re a real team.”

Belinda Curtis, Year 6 teacher at Leyburn Primary School, said the arrival of the new kit has sparked “boundless enthusiasm and energy” among the youngsters.

She added: “We feel unstoppable, united under the colours of our new attire. Thanks to our generous sponsors, Scotts Wright Solicitors, we’re not just players, we’re ambassadors of their support and belief in us.

“We are eagerly awaiting the start of the Autumn term so we can put our new kits into action and really feel like contenders against the schools in our cluster.”

Scotts Wright Solicitors, based in Leyburn but with an office in Richmond, also sponsor Richmond Rockets Junior Football Club under-7s.

Steve Scott, managing director at the firm, the father of four boys at Leyburn Primary School and himself a former pupil, said: “I know how much effort goes into organising junior football, and I know how much it means to the children who take part. It’s important to support the grass roots and make sure the players can take to the pitch with pride.”
