More than 20 young golfers took to the fairways for Richmond Golf Club’s annual Junior Captain’s Day.
The event, held on Thursday, June 25, was organised by this year’s junior captain, Charles Calvert, and included competitions for both handicapped and non-handicapped players.
Charles praised the enthusiasm shown by everyone taking part.
He said: “They all played with fantastic spirit and were all encouraging each other. Some of the juniors have yet to get a handicap, so a separate competition was held for them.”
Max was crowned the overall Junior Captain’s Day winner, while Oscar took the prize for the best junior without a handicap.
Harry won the nearest-the-pin competition on the ninth hole, while Tim claimed the nearest-the-pin in two on the 11th after driving the green.
Prizes were presented by Richmond Golf Club Lady Captain Claire Bateman, who congratulated the competitors and thanked those who helped organise the event.
She said: “Very well done to all who played and thanks to Jonny Walker, Mark and Lynda Thorpe, our junior organisers, and to all the parents who gave encouragement by supporting their children.”
The event concluded with the junior golfers gathering on the club’s 18th green for a commemorative photograph.
