Young man critically ill after crash near Richmond

A young man is critically ill and a driver has been arrested after a crash near Richmond last night.

Police arrested the driver on suspicion of drink driving after his dark-coloured Alfa Romeo, carrying four passengers, hit a tree.
The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Sandbeck, off Richmond Road, between Catterick and Richmond.
One of the passengers is currently in hospital with critical injuries.
The other passengers were offered medical treatment at the scene.
The driver, a man in his 20s, blew over the limit and has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
He was later treated at hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
A police spokesperson said: “If you saw the Alfa Romeo in the moments leading up to the collision, or have any other information or dashcam footage that could help the investigation, please contact us.”
