Youngster celebrates birthday by raising money for food bank

A youngster has marked his 12th birthday by walking 12 miles for charity.

Corey Tunmore has raised more than £300 with the walk from his home in Catterick Garrison after setting an initial target of £50.

Corey, who attends The Wensleydale School, will use the money to buy items for the StoreHouse food bank in Richmond.

The youngster said: “I really wanted to do something to help people and the community.

“The NHS and key workers are doing an amazing job at helping to save lives and giving their time — I would also like to do what I can to help.”

Corey is now drawing up a shopping list after making contact with the food bank to find out what they needed.

Corey and mum Michelle walked a circular route through Tunstall and back into Catterick Garrison on Wednesday.
