Youth club to reopen at the Wensleydale School

The Wensleydale School and Sixth Form.

The youth club at the Wensleydale School will reopen next week.

The club will run every Wednesday night during term time and will be open to children in year seven upwards.

Richie Bastow, youth development worker for North Yorkshire Youth, which runs the club, said: “It is great to see Leyburn Youth Club reopening with the backing of the Wensleydale School who are keen to support North Yorkshire Youth to continue to provide a warm, safe and accessible youth provision which has been well used for many years.”

The club will offer music, games, pool and support for young people.

The club will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm from November 15.

Admission will be 50p to get in.

Due to new gates installed at the school young people will only be able to get in between 6.30pm and 6.40pm and will need to stay for the whole session.

When the club has operated previously, young people have been dropped off and then left the club early to walk into Leyburn rather than stay for the full two hours, which has caused safeguarding concerns.
