Youths blamed for deliberate fires in Catterick Garrison

Youths have been blamed for starting two fires in Catterick Garrison this week.

A fire crew from Richmond responded to a report of a hedge on fire in Richmondshire Walk at about 6pm on Tuesday.

They used a hose reel to extinguish a small area of shrubbery.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was believed to be deliberately started by youths.

Around 50 minutes later, the crew responded to a report of a rubbish fire in Shute Road.

They again used a hose reel jet to extinguish it.

This fire was also believed to have been started deliberately by young people.
