Zumbathon to raise funds for Richmondshire charity

Volunteers from Homestart chat to families.

A Zumbathon will raise money for a Richmondshire charity next month.

The event, at Richmond School, on February 2, is being organised by Leyburn fitness instructor Karolina Grochalska.

It will raise money for Home-start Richmondshire, which aims to gives parents in the district the support they need to enable their child to have the best possible start in life.

Karolina, who is a mother of three, received helped from the charity in 2017 after giving birth to twins the previous year.

She said: “They provide a volunteer for two hours once a week who supports families in difficult times, practically and emotionally.

“It helps single parents, families with multiples, or those in other difficult life situations

“Their support was absolutely amazing and helped me to get through a difficult time in my life when I honestly thought there was no light at the end of the tunnel.

“The demand for their great work is constantly growing and they need funding.

“Now I want to thank them for their amazing help and give something back.”

Karolina is running the event with the help of her friends and other Zumba instructors.

Barclays in Leyburn have agreed to match-fund any money raised up to £1,000.

The three-hour Zumbathon will start at 1pm on Saturday, February 2.

Admission is a £10 donation to the charity.

A raffle will also be held, with prizes now being collected.
